Aloe cryptopoda is a variety of Aloe grown for its interesting form, foliage, and flowers. It produces long, olive-green leaves which are held in an upright manner. Stems rise above the foliage in winter to bear large and showy clusters of red-orange flowers as it grows to 60 cm tall and 50 cm wide. Aloe cryptopoda is commonly maintained in a container, added to succulent and rock garden plantings, used in the drier parts of the garden, included in Mediterranean themed gardens, or included in mixed planting to contrast with other foliage types.

Aloe cryptopoda Details

Aloe cryptopoda is a variety of Aloe grown for its interesting form, foliage, and flowers. It produces long, olive-green leaves which are held in an upright manner. Stems rise above the foliage in winter to bear large and showy clusters of red-orange flowers. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and 50 cm wide, and performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate extended dry periods, light frost, coastal environments once established. Aloe cryptopoda is commonly maintained in a container, added to succulent and rock garden plantings, used in the drier parts of the garden, included in Mediterranean themed gardens, or included in mixed planting to contrast with other foliage types.
