Aloe petricola, commonly known as the Stone Aloe, is a hardy succulent grown for its flowers and foliage. The leaves are blue-grey and held distinctly upright. In winter, red stems rise above the foliage to bear a cluster of small, tubular, red flowers. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide. Aloe petricola is commonly planted in the drier parts of the garden, grown in a container, added to a mixed planting of succulents, or in borders.

Aloe petricola Details

Aloe petricola, commonly known as the Stone Aloe, is a hardy succulent grown for its flowers and foliage. The leaves are blue-grey and held distinctly upright. In winter, red stems rise above the foliage to bear a cluster of small, tubular, red flowers. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, growing best in full sun on a well-drained site. It does not tolerate wet conditions but will tolerate arid conditions, frost, and some wind. Aloe petricola is commonly planted in the drier parts of the garden, grown in a container, added to a mixed planting of succulents, or in borders. It provides for a great talking point due to its unusual growth habit.
