Aloe rupestris, commonly known as the Bottlebrush Aloe, is a hardy succulent grown for its flowers and foliage. It grows with a solitary stem and carries thick, dull green leaves. The leaf margins have numerous red-brown teeth. In winter, stems rise above the foliage to bear clusters of small, tubular, yellow-orange flowers. It will grow to about 6 m tall and 3 m wide. Aloe rupestris is commonly included in mixed plantings or grown anywhere an easy care, interesting plant is required.

Aloe rupestris Details

Aloe rupestris, commonly known as the Bottlebrush Aloe, is a hardy succulent grown for its flowers and foliage. It grows with a solitary stem and carries thick, dull green leaves. The leaf margins have numerous red-brown teeth. In winter, stems rise above the foliage to bear clusters of small, tubular, yellow-orange flowers. It will grow to about 6 m tall and 3 m wide, performing best in full sun on a well-drained site. It is drought tolerant and will also do well in coastal environments. This succulent has all year-round interest because of the attractive form and colourful flowers. For these reasons Aloe rupestris is commonly included in mixed plantings or grown anywhere an easy care, interesting plant is required.
