“Crimson Princess” is an impressive, small, Japanese Maple featuring a rich display of interestingly coloured foliage. The finely cut leaves emerge purple-red in spring, age to mid-green with bronze tones during summer, then turn scarlet red in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide, growing best in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates and will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. “Crimson Princess” is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, planted to soften a bland wall, maintained in a container, planted around outdoor living areas, or used anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed.
