Acer grosseri hersii, Acer grosseri var hersii, Acer hersii
Acer grosseri Hersii, commonly known as the Snakebark Maple, this tree is grown for its rich foliage and interesting flowers. The leaves on this deciduous tree are large, mid-green, and turn yellow-red in autumn before falling. The bark is green with white stripes resembling that of a snake skin. It grows with an open, flat-topped habit with a crown of arching branches to eventually reach about 12 m tall and 8 m wide. Acer grosseri Hersii is suited to parks and larger gardens where it is often used as a specimen with the added advantage of providing great shade.
