“Pendulum Julian” is an impressive, small, Japanese Maple that features a rich display of interestingly coloured, weeping foliage. The finely cut leaves emerge purple in spring, mature to bronze-green though summer, then develop brilliant orange and yellow tones in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, moderately sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates and will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. “Pendulum Julian” makes for an impressive specimen and is ideal for including in a mixed planting, maintaining in a container, planting around outdoor living areas, or using anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed.
