“Chishio” is a variety of Japanese Maple grown for its rich display of delicate foliage. Leaves on this deciduous tree emerge crimson-scarlet red, age to pink-red, then turn green during summer. As autumn progresses, they develop orange-red tones before falling. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. “Chishio” will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. This lovely specimen is ideal for mixed plantings, planting to soften a bland wall, maintaining in a container, planting around outdoor living areas, or for growing anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed.
