Acer palmatum dissectum is a popular variety of Japanese Maple due to its form, foliage, and wondrous display of colourful foliage. This attractive, small tree bears light green-yellow, feathery foliage in spring which ages to a fresh green colour in summer. As autumn progresses the leaves develop increasingly darker shades of orange before falling. The foliage is held on branches that gracefully arch downwards and it typically grows to 2 m tall and 2.5 m wide. Acer palmatum dissectum is perfect for adding to a mixed planting, growing in courtyards, or planting around outdoor living areas.

The foliage is held on branches that gracefully arch downwards and it typically grows to 2 m tall and 2.5 m wide though it can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, moderately sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates and will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. Acer palmatum dissectum is perfect for adding to a mixed planting, growing in courtyards, planting around outdoor living areas, or using anywhere the beauty of this plant can be appreciated.
