Acer palmatum Red Feather is an impressive Japanese Maple that features a rich display of colourful foliage. The lush foliage emerges a deep purple-red colour, remains this way until autumn, then develops crimson-red tones before falling. It grows with a cascading habit and typically reaches 3 m tall and 2 m wide. Best results with this small tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. It is also tolerant of frost, cool climates, and coastal environments but will produce a better tree if it is protected while establishing.
