“Columnare” is an outstanding tree grown for its lovely form and fabulous autumn colours. It features dark green leaves through spring and summer which develop stunning, orange and yellow tones as autumn progresses. It grows with an upright, almost columnar habit to eventually reach 15 m tall and 3.5 m wide, though it can be trimmed to smaller sizes. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, short periods of dry, and a range of soil types, except extreme wet and dry. “Columnare” makes for a magnificent specimen and is ideal for avenues, parks, large gardens, or planting to soften a large wall.
