Best results with this tree are achieved when it is positioned in full sun on a well-drained site with some shelter. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates and will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. Acer Purpureum makes for a magnificent specimen tree for larger properties, parks and the like, and provides great shade during summer. It can also be used on lifestyle properties to provide shelter and screening as well as wonderful colour.
