This deciduous tree features dark green leaves through spring and summer which then turn red with orange and yellow tones as autumn progresses. It grows with an upright, almost columnar habit to eventually reach 20 m tall and 6 m wide, though can be contained with trimming. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, short periods of dry, and a range of soil types, except extreme wet and dry. Acer Columnare makes for a magnificent specimen and is ideal for avenues, parks, large gardens, or planting to soften a large wall.
