Ackama rosifolia, Makamaka, Caldcluvia rosifolia
Ackama rosifolia, commonly known as Makamaka, is an elegant, NZ native tree that carries interesting foliage and flowers. The leaves are pale green, often red below, with new growth having a purple tinge. Clusters of small, cream flowers coat the plant in spring which is complemented with red-pink fruits towards the end of summer. It typically grows to 8 m tall and 2 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Ackama rosifolia is an attractive tree that is commonly used a specimen or included in mixed plantings.
