Aesculus hippocastanum Baumannii, commonly known as the Horse Chestnut, is a lovely, spreading tree. It bears large, upright sprays of double, white flowers tinged with yellow in spring. The foliage comprises large, dark green leaves which changes to yellow in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 12 m tall and 8 m wide. Aesculus hippocastanum Baumannii is commonly used a shade tree, included in avenue or park plantings, or grown as a specimen in a large garden.
