Aesculus turbinata, Japanese Horse Chestnut, Japanese Horse Chestnut Tree
Aesculus turbinata, commonly known as the Japanese Horse Chestnut, is a lovely, spreading tree. In summer it produces large and upright sprays of yellow-white flowers with a red spot. These result in brown coloured fruits in autumn. The foliage comprises large and glossy, dark green leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 12 m tall and the same wide. Aesculus turbinata is commonly used as a shade tree, included in street or park plantings, grown as a specimen in a large garden, or incorporated into a mixed planting.
