Alnus cremastogyne is an attractive specimen tree due to its form and foliage. It grows with a pyramidal shape and hosts bright green, glossy leaves. Amidst the leaves are borne small, green cones which age to brown and hang on the tree after the leaves have fallen. It typically grows to 25 m tall with a spread of 8 m but can be trimmed as necessary. Alnus cremastogyne is commonly trimmed into a hedge, used for screening and shelter, or grown as a specimen tree.
