Arbutus canariensis, Madrone Tree, Madrone Trees, Canary Island Tree
Arbutus canariensis, commonly known as the Canary Islands Tree or Madrone Tree, is an attractive evergreen tree renowned for its foliage, flowers, and berries. It produces lush and glossy, dark green leaves held off rigid branches. Clusters of red, bell-shaped flowers are borne amidst the foliage in summer and result in showy, orange berries in autumn as it grows to 8 m tall and 6 m wide. Arbutus canariensis is a fast-growing tree that makes for a lovely specimen but is also well suited to be used as an informal hedge, for avenue planting, or for including in a mixed planting in a large garden.
