Backhousia anisata, commonly known as the Aniseed Myrtle Tree, is a medium sized tree grown for its impressive flowering and delicate foliage. It typically grows to 20 m high and 8 m wide though it can be trimmed to sizes much less than this. It prefers a full sun or semi-shade position and a well-drained site. Young trees can be frost tender but once established they become more tolerant. The leaves have a pleasant taste and are often used for cooking to make tea.
