Brachychiton acerifolius, commonly known as the Illawara Flame Tree, tree is grown for its unusual flowering. It sheds its deep green leaves during spring and produces masses of scarlet flowers on a near nude tree. It grows compactly with a pyramidal shape to about 12 m tall and 8 m wide. Brachychiton acerifolius makes for a magnificent specimen in a large garden or park.
