Cassia leptophylla Details

Cassia leptophylla, commonly known as the Gold Medallion Tree, is a beautiful tree. It becomes enshrined by masses of showy, rich yellow flowers from autumn through early winter. The foliage is mid-green and develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. In warmer climates it may remain evergreen or be semi-deciduous. It typically grows with a rounded shape to 7 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates though early frosts can shorten flowering. Cassia leptophylla is commonly grown as a specimen, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in avenue plantings, or grown to provide warmth and vibrance to a space.
