Cornus kousa Bonfire is a small and popular, deciduous tree grown for its impressive flowering and attractive form. Large and showy, white flowers adorn the tree in spring and are followed by red berries in autumn. The glossy foliage is variegated yellow and dark green, and complements the flowers nicely. As autumn progresses the leaves develop impressive shades of red and orange before falling. It grows with a vase shape to about 5 m tall and 4 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, moderately sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry.
