“Rainbow” is a deciduous shrub grown for its impressive flowering and colourful foliage. Large and showy, white flowers adorn the tree in spring before leaves emerge. The flowers are followed by red berries in autumn which are great for attracting birds. It grows with a broad and spreading habit carrying lush foliage which is variegated dark green and yellow. As autumn progresses the leaves develop impressive red tones before falling. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. “Rainbow” is commonly included in mixed plantings, planted around outdoor living areas, used to border an entrance, maintained in a courtyard garden, or used anywhere a vibrant plant is desired.
