Corymbia ficifolia, commonly known as the Red Flowering Gum, this is one of the most commonly planted ornamental Eucalypts. It is an attractive, fast-growing tree that features bountiful clusters of red flowers sporadically throughout the year. It has dark green foliage held on a relatively tight network of branches. The tidy growth habit requires little maintenance as it grows to 6 m tall and 2.5 m wide. It will grow on most soils including both dry and constantly damp but heavy frost locations should be avoided. It is an ideal street tree, specimen tree, or can be used in mixed plantings in a large garden. It is also well suited for screening and shelter.
