Corynocarpus laevigatus variegata, commonly known as the NZ Variegated Laurel, is a handsome, NZ native tree that features large, glossy, green with a cream margin. It produces green coloured flowers in spring which are followed by fragrant and fleshy, orange fruit in summer. The fruit, however, are toxic to animals but not birds. It typically grows to 8 m tall and 5 m wide. Corynocarpus laevigatus variegata is ideal for planting in coastal locations and makes for a great specimen tree.

Corynocarpus laevigatus variegata, commonly known as the NZ Variegated Laurel, is a handsome, NZ native tree that features large, glossy, green with a cream margin. It produces green coloured flowers in spring which are followed by fragrant and fleshy, orange fruit in summer. The fruit, however, are toxic to animals but not birds. It typically grows to 8 m tall and 5 m wide as a narrow, upright tree and grows best when planted in full sun or semi-shade on a well-drained site. Corynocarpus laevigatus variegata is found naturally in coastal forests so is ideal for planting in coastal locations and makes for a great specimen tree. It is often planted as an attractive screen but any plantings should consider the risk to children and animals. It is hardy to moderate frost once established.
