“Mellow Yellow” is a fast-growing, evergreen conifer featuring bright yellow foliage. This vigorous tree can grow to 25 m tall and 10 m wide but is generally contained with trimming. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site and will grow on almost any soil, barring extreme wet or dry. It tolerates coastal and exposed positions, frost, cool climates, and is drought tolerant once established. “Mellow Yellow” is used extensively on farms and larger properties as a windbreak, for screening, and to provide shelter for livestock. In the home garden it can be used as a tall and wide, formal hedge which will create screening and serve as an excellent backdrop for other plantings. For hedging space plants 1 m apart.
