This Eugenia grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, and it is tolerant of dry periods and moderate frost once established. Eugenia dysenterica is commonly grown as a specimen plant but can also be trimmed into a hedge. Be aware that consuming too much of the fruit can have a laxative effect!
