Eugenia dysenterica, commonly known as Cagaita or Cagaiteira, is an evergreen tree grown for its lush foliage and colourful fruits. It produces a dense network of green foliage as it grows to 7 m tall and 3 m wide. Small, white flowers are produced in spring and result in edible yellow berries. This Eugenia grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, and it is tolerant of dry periods and moderate frost once established.
