The lush foliage in spring emerges glossy and dark green, and is held somewhat densely off rigid stems. As autumn progresses the leaves develop copper tones before falling. For the first 15 years it grows with a tight and columnar habit and thereafter tends to broaden out to eventually reach 20 m tall and 6 m wide. Fagus sylv Dawyck Green is a fantastic tree and mature specimens make a dramatic statement in the landscape. It is commonly used for street and avenue planting, screening, or added to a mixed planting in a large garden.
