Ficus Hillii Emerald, commonly known as Hills Weeping Fig, is a mid-sized, evergreen tree featuring lush and glossy foliage. The green leaves are held densely on short stems and result in a dense canopy. Small, green figs are produced in autumn that ripen to become pinkish with small, yellow warts. It grows with an upright and somewhat narrow habit to about 12 m tall and 5 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site, protected from heavy frost. It is tolerant of moderate frost once established as well as periods of dry and some wind. Ficus Hillii Emerald makes for a lovely specimen and is well suited to avenue planting, being trimmed into a hedge, or planting for screening and shelter. It is also often used for topiary and bonsai.
