Gordonia axillaris (or Polyspora axillaris), commonly known as the Fried Egg Plant, is a small, evergreen tree renowned for both its attractive foliage and adorable flowers. The foliage comprises glossy, green leaves which develop red tones in autumn before falling. Large and showy, single, white flowers literally coat the plant from autumn through spring as it grows to 7 m tall and 6 m wide. Gordonia axillaris is commonly grown as a specimen, used for avenue planting, or included in a mixed planting in a large garden.

Gordonia axillaris (or Polyspora axillaris), commonly known as the Fried Egg Plant, is a small, evergreen tree renowned for both its attractive foliage and adorable flowers. The foliage comprises glossy, green leaves which develop red tones in autumn before falling. Large and showy, single, white flowers literally coat the plant from autumn through spring. It typically grows to 7 m tall and 6 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of cool climates and moderate frost but does require some wind protection. Gordonia axillaris is commonly grown as a specimen, used for avenue planting, or included in a mixed planting in a large garden.
