Hibiscus tiliaceus Details

Hibiscus tiliaceus, commonly known as the Coast Cottonwood, is grown for its lush foliage and showy flowers. This small tree produces dark green leaves and becomes adorned with yellow flowers in spring. It grows with an upright habit to about 8 m tall and 5 m wide, though can be contained with trimming as necessary. This tree performs best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site and is tolerant of short periods of dry as well as light frost only once established. Hibiscus tiliaceus is commonly grown as a showy specimen, used as an informal hedge, planted for screening, included in a mixed planting, added to a tropical garden, or planted around outdoor living areas. It also looks amazing when used to line an avenue or border an entrance.
