Hoheria, Mountain Lacebark, Houhere Tree, Whauwhi
Hoheria lyallii, commonly known as Mountain Lacebark or the Houhere Tree, is a small, semi-deciduous tree that grows to about 4 m high and 2.5 m wide. The leaves on young trees are oval and toothed whereas on the adult they are broader and longer. White flowers produced in summer transform the tree into something quite impressive. Hoheria lyallii is an ideal tree for mixed plantings, growing as a specimen, or growing as a shelter tree.
