Liquidambar styraciflua Little Richard is grown for its form, foliage, and fantastic autumn colours. It features lush, mid green leaves which develop impressive shades of red and orange in autumn before falling. The autumn display is magnificent. It grows quickly with a pyramidal shape to about 8 m tall and 4 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is hardy to frost, cool climates, dry periods, heavier soils, and some wind but should be protected while it is establishing to produce a better tree. Liquidambar styraciflua Little Richard makes for a lovely specimen and is great for avenue planting, or planting to enjoy a spectacular autumn show.
