Small, green flowers appear in summer through autumn and result in hard, spiked fruits. It typically grows to 8 m tall and 6 m wide with an upright, pyramidal growth habit and performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is hardy to frost, cool climates, and some wind but should be protected from strong winds while establishing.
