Liriodendron chinense, Liriodendron Tulip Tree, Chinese Tulip Tree, Liriodendron chinense x tulipifera, Chinese Tulip Poplar, Tuliptree
Liriodendron chinense, commonly known as the Chinese Tulip Tree, is a deciduous tree favoured for its flowers and foliage. The flowers are olive green with a yellow base and are tulip like in size, shape, and appearance. They are borne from late spring through early summer and are complemented with large and glossy, dark green leaves which turn a rich shade of yellow in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 25 m tall and 15 m wide though can easily be contained with trimming. Liriodendron chinense makes for a lovely specimen or shade tree and is suited more towards larger gardens and parks, and for using in avenue plantings.
