Liriodendron tulipifera Aureomarginatum is a variety of the commonly known, Tree Tulip, and is favoured for its flowers, foliage, and lovely amazing form. The yellow-orange flowers in summer are tulip like in size, shape, and appearance. They are complemented with large and glossy leaves which are variegated green and light yellow. The leaf colouring intensifies to become richer shades of yellow in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 18 m tall and 6 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is hardy to frost, cool climates, and moderate wind, but should be protected while establishing. Liriodendron tulipifera Aureomarginatum makes for a lovely specimen or shade tree in a larger garden or park, and is well suited to avenue planting.
