Magnolia campbellii is a large, deciduous tree grown for its spectacular flowering. It bears masses of large and showy, rose-pink flowers through late winter and early spring. These are borne on the naked stems before the foliage emerges. The lush foliage emerges dark green in spring, remains this colour until autumn, then develops yellow tones before falling. It typically grows to 20 m tall and 10 m wide but can be contained with trimming. This variety grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost and cool climates. Magnolia campbellii makes a fantastic specimen in a park or large garden with the added advantage of great summer shade.
