“JC Williams” is a variety of Magnolia grown for its spectacular flowering. It bears masses of large and showy, rose-purple flowers through late winter and early spring. These are borne on the naked stems before the foliage emerges. The lush foliage emerges dark green in spring, remains this colour until autumn, then develops yellow tones before falling. It typically grows to 8 m tall and 5 m wide and can be contained with trimming. This variety grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost and cool climates. JC Williams” makes for a fantastic specimen and is also commonly added to a mixed planting, or used in an avenue planting. The beauty of this tree will please no matter where it is planted.
