Magnolia kobus Details

Magnolia Kobus, commonly known as Kobus Magnolia or Kobushi Magnolia, is a deciduous tree grown for its spectacular flowering. It bears masses of showy, pure white flowers through late winter and early spring. The fragrant blooms are borne on the naked stems before the foliage emerges. The lush foliage emerges dark green in spring, remains this colour until autumn, then develops yellow tones before falling. It typically grows to 10 m tall and 6 m wide and can be contained with trimming. This variety grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost and cool climates. Magnolia kobus makes for a lovely specimen and is commonly added a mixed planting, included in “white” gardens, or used in avenue plantings.
