Magnolia Old Port is an outstanding tree due to its spectacular flowering and compact nature. Through spring it bears masses of tulip shaped, mildly fragrant, wine-red flowers that open to reveal a blushed white interior. The crisp green leaves add a real fresh appeal to this small, deciduous tree. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. This Magnolia grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, though it is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and periods of dry. Magnolia Old Port makes for a lovely specimen and suits being added to a mixed planting, used in avenues, or planted as a cluster for a stunning display.
