It bears masses of large and showy, pure white flowers in late winter and early spring on the naked stems, before the foliage emerges. The lush, dark green foliage emerges soon after, remains this colour until autumn, then develops yellow tones before falling. It typically grows to 6 m tall and 5 m wide, and can be contained with trimming.
