Magnolia soulangeana Sundew, commonly known as Saucer Magnolia, is a popular variety due to its spectacular flowering and pleasant fragrance. It bears masses of large and showy, soft-pink flowers through late winter and early spring. The fragrant blooms are borne on the naked stems before the foliage emerges. The lush foliage emerges dark green in spring, remains this colour until autumn, then develops yellow tones before falling. It typically grows with a rounded form to about 8 m tall and 5 m wide, though it can be contained with trimming.
