Malus baccata Gracilis is a variety of Crabapple that bears masses of single, pink flowers which age to white, and result in bright red fruit in autumn. The foliage and fruit are held on pendulous branches that reach to the ground as it grows to 3 m tall and the same wide. Malus Gracilis is commonly grown as a specimen, added to a mixed planting, or included anywhere the flowers and fruit can be appreciated.

Malus baccata Gracilis Details

Malus baccata Gracilis is a variety of Crabapple grown for its flowering, colourful fruits, and pendulous growth habit. Through spring it bears masses of single, pink flowers which age to white. These result in bright red fruit in autumn which attract all manner of wildlife. The foliage in spring emerges a fresh green, ages to a darker green, and then develops yellow and orange tones in autumn before falling. These, along with the fruit, are held on pendulous branches that reach to the ground. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site that does not dry out. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates. Malus Gracilis is commonly grown as a specimen, added to a mixed planting, or included anywhere the flowers and fruit can be appreciated.
