Malus toringo Sieboldii, Siebolds Crabapple
Malus sieboldii is a variety of Crabapple that produces rose-coloured flower buds that open to reveal showy, single, white blossoms in spring just as the foliage emerges. The fragrant flowers result in large crops of small, cherry-like, orange fruit. The glossy leaves emerge green in spring, age to a darker green, then develop yellow tones in autumn before falling as it grows to 4 m tall and 3 m wide. Malus sieboldii is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a cottage garden, or used for avenue planting.
