Tom Matthews Crabapple
Malus Tom Matthews is variety of Crabapple that produces rose-coloured flower buds that open into showy, dark pink blossoms in spring just as the foliage emerges. The flowers result in large crops of small, cherry-like, red fruit. The glossy leaves emerge green, age to a darker green, then develop yellow and orange tones in autumn before falling as it grows to 4 m tall and 3 m wide. Malus Tom Matthews is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a cottage garden, or used for avenue planting.
