Metrosideros aurea, Yellow Pohutukawa
Metrosideros excelsa Aurea is a variety of Pohutukawa that features amazing yellow flowers. This NZ native, evergreen tree carries dark green foliage which becomes adorned with clusters of yellow flowers in summer. It grows with a rounded shape to about 10 m tall and 8 m wide, though can be trimmed as necessary. Metrosideros Aurea is an excellent choice for coastal gardens, growing as a specimen in parks and the like, adding to mixed plantings in large gardens, or using in avenue plantings.

It would be fine in a pot that size for 3-5 years. Growing it in a pot will keep it somewhat dwarfed... a bonsai effect with the roots being restricted.
