White Maire, Nestegis lanceolata, White Maire Tree
Nestegis lanceolata, commonly known as White Maire, is a tall and handsome NZ native tree. It grows with a stout, straight trunk up to 15 m high and bears a broad crown made up of glossy, leathery, dark green leaves. Small, green flowers are produced in spring and are followed by small green fruits which turn red as they ripen. Nestegis lanceolata is most suited for adding to large, native plantings or including in revegetation projects.
