Nyssa sylvatica Biflora

Swamp Tupelo

“Biflora” is a deciduous tree grown for its fantastic autumn colours and ability to thrive on wet soils. The lush foliage emerges a glossy green in spring, ages to become dark green, then takes on colourful shades of red and orange in autumn before falling. It grows with a narrow and conical habit to about 8 m tall and 4 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun. It grows well across a wide range of soil conditions and will tolerate heavy and wet soils where other trees would struggle. It is also tolerant of frost, cool climates, and some wind. “Biflora” makes for a lovely specimen and is well suited to planting around ponds, streams, or in areas that are not well-drained. It also suits being used for avenue planting.
