Pittosporum ellipticum is a hardy, NZ native tree that grows to about 8 m tall and 4 m wide. It features green-yellow leaves and golden-brown ‘hair’ which covers branches and undersides of older leaves. This hardy evergreen grows best on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is hardy to moderate frost, wind, coastal environments, and cold climates. Pittosporum ellipticum is commonly included in a mixed planting, trimmed into a hedge, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or grown as a specimen.
