Plagianthus regius betulinus, commonly known as Ribbonwood, is a deciduous, NZ native tree which has both a juvenile and adult form. Juvenile plants are twiggy with interlacing branches hosting foliage that is small and mid-green. As the tree ages the leaves become larger and more prominent. The juvenile stage may last five or more years. Soon after the foliage emerges in spring, clusters of small, yellow flowers are produced which are very aesthetic.
