Flowering Cherry Te Mara

Prunus yedoensis Te Mara is a variety of Flowering Cherry that features masses of fragrant, single, bright pink flowers which are borne just before the foliage emerges. The leaves are borne a fresh green colour in spring, age to become dark green, then develop yellow and orange tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a broad and somewhat spreading habit to about 8 m tall and 5 m wide. Prunus Te Mara makes a fine addition to any garden and is commonly grown as a specimen, added to a mixed planting in a large garden, used in avenue plantings, or planted to attract birds.

Prunus Te Mara Details

Prunus yedoensis Te Mara is a variety of Flowering Cherry is grown for its lovely form and fantastic flowering. It features masses of fragrant, single, bright pink flowers which are borne just before the foliage emerges. The flowers are like a magnet for native birds such as Tui. The leaves are borne a fresh green colour in spring, age to become dark green, then develop yellow and orange tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a broad and somewhat spreading habit to about 8 m tall and 5 m wide, performing best when planted in a full sun position on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. Prunus Te Mara makes a fine addition to any garden and is commonly grown as a specimen, added to a mixed planting in a large garden, used in avenue plantings, or planted to attract birds.
